Episode 118

118: Too many passions, not enough time

Ever have that feeling where you have too many passions and not enough time to do it all? This week we address this question from a listener who’s been struggling with feeling as though she has too many passions, and share our experience.

“I think it’s about being okay with your choices, there is no part of me that thinks that I made the wrong choice with my career. I love what I do so much and I think it’s the absolute right thing for me to be doing.”

— Charli

Key takeaways

1 | There are only 24 hours in a day – you can’t learn everything at the same time. Prioritise. There is plenty of time to achieve all of the things you would like to.

2 | If you feel you have become a Jack of all trades, Master of none, choose to focus on just one of your interests until you have mastered it.

3 | Take stock of everything that you are doing. Do your passions overlap? Perhaps two passions can be combined to create a new creative outlet. Alternatively, keep your passions completely separate, use the time spent doing one to reflect on the other.

4 | It’s okay to dream, you may have dreams you never pursue. Sometimes the reality of bringing a dream to life isn’t as magical as the dream itself.

5 | Combine your skills to create a unique skillset. Choose your niche, and find your intrinsic drive. This will help to motivate you when it’s time to put in the long hours and the hard work.
